SDS Think Piece Launched
Our think piece, ‘Piecing together person centred support’ was launched at the Health and Social Care Academy’s ‘Devaluing Values’ event, held on 21st August 2015 in Dundee. With the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2014 showing teething problems with scattered practice and slow progress in shifting the mind-set of social care towards outcomes, this event gave people a safe space to consider the effects of social work’s approach to implementing SDS upon the lives of people requiring support to maintain a good quality of life.
Hearing from experts in social care on the impact of the implementation of SDS through the perspectives of people requiring support and the lens of social work’s values, delegates engaged in a constructive discussion about the future of individualised social care.
A full note of the event will be published on the ALLIANCE website shortly.
