Revised budget passes the Scottish Parliament
A deal between the Scottish National Party and the Scottish Greens has seen the 2017-18 budget passed by MSPs.
The Scottish Government's initial draft budget proposed significant savings in the budget passed down to local authorities. As a result of the deal struck between the parties, changes to the tax system will increase the amount of income tax raised and this has been factored into the new budget with an additional £220m made avaliable.
£160m will be added to the local authority budget but overall, next year's budget will still require councils to decrease spending by £167m.
