Primary Care - People as Partners

The ALLIANCE has developed a new publication to highlight the importance of working collectively to promote the whole-system transformation needed to improve the interactions and conversations between people and practitioners in primary care.

‘Primary Care – People as Partners’ draws insight from a range of primary care facing ALLIANCE programmes that support this goal, including Scotland’s House of Care, the National Links Worker Programme, Our GP, and A Local Information System for Scotland (ALISS).

Launching the publication, Ian Welsh OBE, Chief Executive of the ALLIANCE, emphasised the importance of acknowledging the breadth of partners in the primary care landscape, including people and their families; and third and independent sectors.

“Current primary care transformation policy makes clear a timely and welcome aspiration that people who access support and services are at the heart of decision making and experience a personalised approach to their care."

"It is more crucial than ever before that people who access health and social care are engaged as equal partners in co-producing healthcare solutions, evaluation development and in spreading this learning”.

"The ALLIANCE welcomes the opportunity to work collectively to promote the whole-system transformation needed to improve the interactions and conversations between people and practitioners in primary care."
