Find out about Excellence in Care, the new set of nursing and midwifery standards ensuring that everyone receives consistent quality of care
What is Excellence in Care?
Excellence in Care is a national approach to develop and implement a world-class, evidence based, national method to assuring nursing and midwifery care that reflects the ‘Once for Scotland’ ethos. The approach seeks to improve, integrate and coordinate the way nursing and midwifery services are delivered within the Scottish public sector to ensure that everyone receives a consistent standard and quality of service. The approach aims to provide the Scottish public with confidence and assurance that nursing and midwifery care is high quality, safe, effective and person-centred.
What Excellence in Care means for patients and families?
Excellence in Care will mean that the people who use our services can have confidence that no matter where they are cared for within NHS Scotland, they will consistently receive high quality nursing care delivered in a compassionate way by competent nurses and midwives.
Who is involved in our work?
Excellence in Care is Scottish Government nursing and midwifery policy. The approach has been developed by a multi-agency collaboration between Scottish Government, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland, and NHS Education for Scotland. In addition, future funding has been made available to all NHS Boards to ensure a senior nurse / midwife or data specialist from each NHS Board has dedicated time to support national and local delivery of Excellence in Care.
This webinar will give an overview of the programme, progress to date and the aspirations for the future. There is an opportunity to ask questions about any aspect of the programme and give your view about what constitutes high quality nursing care.
