General Pharmaceutical Council Focus Group

Section: the ALLIANCE Location: Glasgow City Date of event: 21/03/2019 at 12:30 - 16:30

Come along and join a focus group about education and training for pharmacists and receive £75 of Love2Shop vouchers.

The focus group is being run by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) (this link will take you away from our website) who are the regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises. They want to find out people’s views on the education and training of pharmacists.

The GPhC are proposing making some significant changes to the standards they set for the education and training of pharmacists to ensure that pharmacists joining their register in the future will have the necessary knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to meet the needs of patients and the public. They would like to find out what you think about these changes.

During the focus group the GPhC also will also seek your views on guidance they are developing for pharmacist independent prescribers. A pharmacist independent prescriber is a registered pharmacist who can diagnose conditions and prescribe medicines to patients after completing additional education and training.

Please let the GPhC know if you are available to participate by contacting Laura Oakley at or 020 3713 8001. Please note that spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Lunch will be provided so please tell Laura if you have any dietary requirements or if you have any other requirements such as needing wheelchair access, materials in large print, or a hearing loop.
