Smart Energy GB is delighted to invite you to the forthcoming event “Taking a smarter approach to tackling fuel poverty in Scotland”.

The event will focus attention current statistics and trends, how we can think smarter about fuel poverty and engage the energy consumer to support them in their financial situation. Part of the discussion will ask what role technology – including smart meters – has in finding a solution for those in fuel poverty across Scotland.

Amongst the speakers will be Lawrie Morgan Klein from StepChange Debt Charity who will talk through his view on what is happening when it comes to energy bills, why people are falling behind, how the industry can help and the small steps we can take to make changes.

We will also hear from Gemma Shields at Hillcrest Housing Association. Gemma will tell us about the work the association is doing to help households struggling with energy costs as part of her work with the Hillcrest Energy Advice Team (HEAT) – helping people keep warm over winter.

Philippa Brown, Deputy Director of Specialist Audiences at Smart Energy GB will highlight the opportunities that smart meters present. How the technology can help customers to understand and manage their electricity and gas more effectively – helping to alleviate fuel poverty.
