My World, My Health: ‘show and tell’

Section: Digital the ALLIANCE Location: Scotland wide Date of event: 11/03/2021 at 14:00 - 16:30

Find out what people told us regarding their views on how data could be better used for health and wellbeing.

Between November 2020 and February 2021, the My World, My Health project looked at how public services could use non-health information to provide better health and care services. Just as your GP will know when you become a parent, would it be helpful if they knew you suddenly became unemployed? Or perhaps whether you were at risk of developing asthma because of the pollution levels in your area?

Sharing information across organisations could potentially improve your wellbeing or help you get a better service. But it could also pose risks.

Therefore, we felt it was important to hear people’s thoughts on how they felt about data sharing across organisations. Should this happen? If so, how? Or if not, why? And how should we, as individuals, be involved in the way data about us is collected and shared?

Throughout the project, we ran several workshops, interviews and a survey to get people’s views. This event is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in the topic to hear about some of our initial findings and feedback on progress so far.

The project is commissioned by Nesta on behalf of the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government will draw on the findings from this and other work in developing their approaches to data sharing and service design.
