Join a free online stakeholder information event to learn more about Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.

Social Security Scotland would like to invite you to attend a free online stakeholder information event where we will share details on Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance. Two events will be held, the first on 14 January, and the second on 22 January.

Purpose of this event:

From early 2025, adults in Scotland in receipt of Disability Living Allowance will see their award transfer to Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.

This event will include a general overview of the following topics:

  • Policy background
  • Awards in scope for transfer
  • Case transfer journeys
  • Long-term case management
  • Voluntary moves to Adult Disability Payment

The purpose of this event is to share information with stakeholders to enable them to better support clients.

If you have questions about the new benefit that you would like answered at the event, you will be able to submit them prior to the event using the link included in your event sign up email. By following the link, you can also vote for questions submitted by others. They will aim to answer as many questions as possible during the event, prioritising those with the highest number of votes and those that are relevant to the largest number of attendees. All pre submitted questions will be answered in writing and sent out to attendees after the event.

Background:

Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (Scottish Adult DLA) will replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for adults in Scotland from March 2025. Scottish Adult DLA will not be open to new applications. It is available only to those whose awards will be automatically transferred. Adults in Scotland who wish to make a new claim for disability assistance should apply for Adult Disability Payment.

The new Scottish benefit will be introduced on a ‘like-for-like’ basis, with clients’ benefit components, rates and review periods being upheld by Social Security Scotland, ensuring the transfer will be straightforward.

The introduction of Scottish Adult DLA will bring an end to the current DLA to Adult Disability Payment case transfer journey. People in Scotland currently receiving Personal Independence Payment will continue to have their awards moved onto Adult Disability Payment.
