A webinar by Together (Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights) to draw on participants' experience and expertise.
Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) is hosting a series of Zoom webinars in June and July 2020 on the State of Children’s Rights in Scotland. These webinars form part of Together’s countdown to the next examination of the UK’s progress in implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Together will be submitting a report in autumn 2020 to highlight the priority children’s rights issues in Scotland and inform the UN Committee’s review.
Recommendations by the UN Committee can be powerful tools in influencing legislation and policy. Since the UN Committee’s 2016 review, the Scottish Government has addressed recommendations including giving children equal protection from assault and raising the age of criminal responsibility, as well as making a strong commitment to incorporate the UNCRC into Scots law within the next year.
This webinar will explore Special Protection Measures and will focus on some of the key issues highlighted in Together’s State of Children Right’s 2019 report. Read Together’s report (this link will take you away from our website).
Register for the webinar on the event page (this link will take you away from our website). Please note registration is open until 12PM on Tuesday the 23rd of June.
