Supporting carers – the role of integration

Section: the ALLIANCE Health and Social Care Integration Location: Scottish Borders Date of event: 07/11/2019 at 11:00 - 15:00

Join the ALLIANCE, Borders Care Voice and the Borders Carers Centre to discuss integration and the support it provides for carers.

People with both lived and professional experience are invited to join the ALLIANCE’s Integration Support team at Galashiels Volunteer Hall on the 7th November for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussion.

Did you know the Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders now have a joint responsibility to provide support for carers in the local area? Integration requires the Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders to work together as partners to plan and deliver this support. This event will give attendees the opportunity to share their opinion on how well these organisations are working together and any changes or improvements that have come from the integration of services.

You can sign up for this event via Eventbrite (this link will take you away from our website).

We will be joined by Borders Care Voice, the Borders Carers Centre, the Coalition of Carers in Scotland, the Carers Trust Scotland as well as a number of carers from the local area.

The event will provide:

  • An insight into carers’ experiences of integration;
  • An insight into carers’ experiences of the Carers Act;
  • A platform for attendees to share their own views on the support that is available to carers, as well as gaps in services;
  • And an opportunity for people with both lived and professional experience to connect with one another and share their different perspectives.

This will allow the ALLIANCE’s Integration Support team to assess integration’s impact locally and the extent to which organisations are working together to deliver both health and social care integration and the Carers Act. We will then be able to raise awareness of these experiences, which will be summarised in a report and promoted through our networks.
