This online session on 25 June at 1pm hosted by Scottish Refugee Council is aimed at anyone working with people seeking asylum and refugees in the healthcare sector.

You may work for the NHS, a third sector health-related organisation or just want to learn more. If you feel this webinar is relevant, you are welcome to attend.

What will you learn? 

  • Key definitions (Asylum seeker, Migrant, Refugee, New Scot)  
  • The rights and entitlements of people seeking asylum and refugees (including healthcare, employment, education, public funds)
  • Financial and accommodation support for people seeking asylum and the impacts of health and wellbeing
  • Common barriers to accessing healthcare 
  • Best practice when working with interpreters 
  • Refugee trauma and the impact on mental health
  • How you can continue to support people through your role
