- Type: Event
- Date: 01/04/2025 at 12:00pm - 1:15pm
- Location: Zoom

Join us for a webinar in our women's health series, on bowel and gut health.
This webinar is part of our Spring programme of events on women’s health – see here for the full women’s health event programme delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government’s Women’s Health Plan team: https://www.alliance-scotland.org.uk/blog/news/alliance-womens-health-spring-events-programme/
This session will discuss women’s bowel health, including what we can all be doing to look after our gut and what we can do if we have a concern.
We will explore some lifestyle factors that can support bowel health at any age (including specific foods and diets), as well as some bowel issues that can affect women including faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse and bowel cancer.

We will be joined by expert speakers to explore the topic, including Dr Mhairi Collie.
The aim of this session is to start a supportive conversation about areas of women’s health that often feel embarrassing to discuss, but are important to be aware of so that we can prioritise our bowel health and get support should we have an issue.
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, to find out more about your bowel and gut health, visit NHS Inform: https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/stomach-liver-and-gastrointestinal-tract/
Please note that our speaker can’t give any individual medical advice, but if you wish to put a question to them then please email us by 20th March at whp@alliance-scotland.org.uk There will also be the opportunity to submit questions live on the day. We may not be able to answer all questions submitted.
This webinar is open to anyone that wishes to learn. Health professionals are welcome to join, although discussion will not focus on diagnosis or managing conditions from a professional perspective.
The session will be recorded, and will be available a few weeks afterwards on our Youtube channel.
This session will also be supported by a BSL/English interpreter.

[1] This event is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government and in support of the Women’s Health Plan
[2] The Women’s Health Plan and the ALLIANCE’s programme uses the term ‘women/woman’ but it is important to highlight that it is not only those who identify as women who require access to women’s health and reproductive services. All healthcare services should be respectful and responsive to individual needs.
