Trauma Informed Practice

This half day course hosted by Health in Mind, provides the baseline knowledge and skills required by the entire Scottish workforce.

The course aim is to help participants learn about what trauma is, gaining an understanding of the definition and evidence base.   Participants will consider the effects and impact of trauma on individuals and how it affects their resiliency.  Participants will understand the importance of self-care and support in the context of being part of trauma informed service.

The workshop will enable participants to:

  • gain an understanding of trauma and it’s causes including an understanding of the definition and evidence base.
  • consider the effects and impact of trauma and resilience in this context.
  • learn how to respond positively to support recovery and avoid re-traumatisation
  • recognise an individual affected by trauma so that they can direct them towards help
  • understand the importance of self-care and support in the context of being part of trauma informed service
