The half day training session will help to increase participants knowledge and information on the UNCRC and its incorporation into Scots law
The ALLIANCE have invited the Scottish Child Law Centre to deliver training on Tuesday 15th October, 10am, – 1pm, online.
The half day training session will help to increase participants knowledge and information on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its incorporation into Scots law. The session will include a specific focus on the new duties placed on public authorities and how the new Act can be used to influence change. There will be opportunities to explore what it means for you in your own organisation, ask questions and share learning and best practice with colleagues from across the children and young people sector in Scotland.

Meet the Trainer:
Jamie Speirs, Senior Solicitor at the Scottish Child Law Centre
Jamie’s main role is to lead on the delivery of bespoke training and masterclasses on children’s rights and child law in Scotland. She also leads on the Centre’s free legal advice service by answering child law related queries submitted by children and young people, their families, and professionals. Prior to joining the SCLC, Jamie has worked in both small and mid-sized law firms specialising in family law and legal aid. During her work in private practice Jamie represented clients from diverse backgrounds at Sheriff Courts across Scotland and took a particular interest in child contact and residence cases.
Jamie is passionate about children’s rights and making justice more accessible to children and young people from all backgrounds. She firmly believes in empowering children and young people to have their views heard on decisions that affect them.
