Find out more about Carers Scotland's conference which will dive into the crucial issue of supporting unpaid carers in employment.

Carers Scotland are hosting an important conference in Edinburgh on 29 May at the COSLA Conference Centre, which will explore the crucial issue of supporting unpaid carers in employment.

This April. the Carers Leave Act will come into force, which will give all unpaid carers in employment the right to up to 5 days unpaid leave. Being ready for the new law and ensuring that your workplace is as supportive for employees who are also in an unpaid caring role has never been more important. With two thirds of all people expected to take on a caring role at some point during their lives, having a supportive employer can be the key in enabling them to continue to work as well as carry out their caring role.

Their conference will cover:

  • Why this is important
  • Current best practice
  • Flexible working and employability

Speakers will include:

  • Scottish Government minister, Wendy Chamberlain MP, who introduced the Carers Leave Act
  • Claire Hawkins, Director of Corporate Affairs & Investor Relations, Phoenix Group
  • Professor Wendy Loretto, Dean of the Edinburgh Business School
  • Ciara Millar from Royal London
  • Chris Ashe, People Advice and Support Manager for Social Security Scotland

These speakers will be joined by many others. The conference is being sponsored by the Phoenix Group.

Tickets are from £125 and you can book them here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/carers-and-employment-conference-scotland-tickets-772330560497.
