Glasgow Disability Alliance were awarded £119,714 in June 2025 to run their project for 36 months
A 36 month project to support disabled adults on waiting lists of mental health or social care support through a 12 week self management course, preceded and followed by 1:1 support and complimented with peer support groups. With the aim of supporting self management and reducing mental distress while waiting.
Learning will be gained through understanding which tools and strategies work for people, and the impact of the different styles of support. The experience of managing the project reference group and the adaptions they suggest, and ultimately whether support leads to a demonstratable reduction in distress. GDA are also interested to learn how they can support other services to increase accessibility to disabled people.
