The ALISS team are pleased to announce the start of a new project DACS that will take the programme to the next level.
ALISS – A Local Information System for Scotland – allows people to search for and share information about services, groups, activities and resources locally and nationally that will help them answer the question, “What keeps you well?”.
The ALISS team are pleased to announce the start of a new project DACS that will take the programme to the next level. The Democratising Access to Community Services (DACS) project will improve the ALISS user experience, increase the number of access points – including voice activation and social prescribing, and increase the quality and quantity of data available via ALISS.
This project seeks to build on the success of ALISS over the past 12 years in the following ways:
- Linking ALISS with other directories and information sources, giving the user access to more information about services, groups, activities and resources.
- Applying artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to massively improve the range, quality and currency of information available.
- Provision of more personalised experiences for users, including AI-driven intelligent suggestions of relevant local and national services and based upon explicit and/or implied need. These first three items will be developed by Tactuum Ltd.
- Enable ALISS to be connected through open APIs allowing deep integration with the social prescribing platform provided by Elemental. This will enable community links workers, social prescribers and other workers to have access to ALISS information during the course of their supporting members of the public.
- Opening up access to ALISS information through improved and expanded capability, specifically, by enabling access by users with Amazon Alexa voice enabled devices. This functionality is being developed by TL Tech Ltd.
The DACS project has already seen the arrival at the ALLIANCE of Olivia Sharkey (Service Designer) and Gillian Duffy (User Researcher), who are supporting all aspects of DACS, to engage citizens and ensure that the project is highly user-centric throughout.
We will share further updates during the course of the project, and announce various opportunities to get involved.
