The ALLIANCE’s ALISS programme announced a new product roadmap, outlining plans for the coming three years.
ALISS is ‘A Local Information System for Scotland’; its vision is that everyone in Scotland can access the information they need to help them live well. ALISS allows users to find relevant local and national services, groups, activities and resources by providing a searchable web-based information system.
Over the past three years, the ALISS programme has committed itself to four key strategic objectives:
- More data – Increase the amount of information that people can access through ALISS.
- Better data – Improve the quality of data hosted on ALISS.
- Better experience – Improve the experiences of people accessing information through ALISS.
- More users – Increase the number of people who access ALISS information.
The Democratising Access to Community Services project sought to enhance ALISS’s functionality, improve user experience and increase the number of access points for ALISS data. Following completion of this project, the team have reviewed the strategic objectives and formulated a roadmap for the next three years of the programme.
The work on the roadmap has followed the following principles:
- Support the vision of ALISS that everyone in Scotland can access the information they need to help them live well.
- Enable delivery of the ALISS strategy.
- Maximise benefits to the Scottish public & Scottish Government policy delivery.
- Provide a national services directory with a local focus.
- Provide a health & wellbeing master data source with a crowdsourcing culture.
- Support the national social prescribing agenda.
- Maintain the openness of ALISS data to benefit all.
The ALISS Product Roadmap makes the distinction between incremental (‘To Be’) and transformational (‘Could Be’) change themes. These are outlined as follows:
Through this process, we have identified a further strategic objective:
- Better insights – Improvement of the measures available from ALISS to inform local and national decision making.
“As we enter an exciting new chapter for ALISS, this roadmap clearly articulates the ambition that we have for the programme. The new objective, ‘better insights’, will help demonstrate impact as well as providing vital data about the health and wellbeing resources that exist across Scotland.”
