Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment (this link will take you away from our website) is a payment of £250 for eligible families in Scotland with children between two and three and a half years old. It aims to support parents who receive certain social security entitlements with additional costs of a young child.

Best Start Grant has been designed as a package of three payments intended to give extra money to lower-income families during the early years of a child’s life. These are:

  • Best Start Grant Pregnancy and Baby Payment which launched in December 2018 (this link will take you away from our website)
  • Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment
  • Best Start Grant School Age Payment (due to be launched in June 2019)
