Capturing lived experiences following transvaginal mesh surgery

Type: News Item Date Published: 2nd August 2019

The ALLIANCE is conducting engagement work to give a voice to those with experience of complications following Transvaginal Mesh Surgery.

The ALLIANCE is undertaking independent engagement work with the purpose of building on previous engagement initiatives and to engage with the widest group possible of women who have experienced or who are experiencing complications of Transvaginal Mesh surgery.  The experiences shared will contribute and inform an engagement report submitted to the Scottish Government to apprise future options.

We are adopting a variety of engagement methods:

  • Online Survey
  • Pop-up cafes
  • One to one interviews

Online survey

To complete the online survey please follow the link https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/CapturingLivedExperienceofComplicationsFollowingTransvaginalMeshSurgery  if you would like to share your experience, but would feel more comfortable doing so online. Our survey will be open through to 2nd September 2019.  If you wish to participate, please also review our online privacy and consent form.

Pop-up cafes

In order to give as many people the opportunity to share their experiences and be involved in this process, we will be holding five pop-up cafes across Scotland in Aberdeen, Dumfries and Galloway, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

Each pop-up cafe will give people an opportunity to drop-in at a time convenient to them to find out more about the work and to talk to the ALLIANCE staff members about participating in the consultation.  In addition, there is the option to participate in a one hour focus group between 1:00 and 2:00 pm, which aims to support open, respectful discussion of your experiences.

As these are drop-in sessions, there is no need to register, however, please feel free to phone or email if you have any access requirements or questions.
