Celebrating People, Places and Pledges

We have ended 2018 on a high and look forward to seeing what 2019 has in store.

Delighted to announce that we have received our 21,761th pledge to Make a Difference!

Our UK Project Lead, Tommy Whitelaw, has now visited more than 800 hospitals, care homes, universities and colleges engaging with over 160,000 people in the process.

It is the individual stories that matter and you can read each of the 21,761 pledges we have received on the Pledges section of our website.

It is inspiring to think that so many people have stopped and reflected on what they can do to make a difference for people living with dementia.

These pledges encompass practical improvements in the workplace, as well as more personal reflections.

You can read about how some of these 21,761 pledges have been turned into meaningful actions on the Case Study section of our website.

It is fitting that our 21,761th pledge has come during sessions at Ayrshire College, one of our first pledges and pledge trees 4 years ago, were launched with great colleagues at Ayr and Crosshose Hospitals in partnership with NHSaaa.

Commenting on our 21,761th pledge to make a difference, Tommy has said:

“The last four years have been the most amazing experience. I have been able to share my own personal story across this campaign. However, together, we have also been given the opportunity to share the stories of so many remarkable people who have written to us, and so many remarkable people we have met along the way.  Although we’re based in Scotland we’ve had pledges from right across the UK – from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Jersey.”

Big thanks to each and everyone one of you for pledging to making a difference.

Irene, Tommy, Laura and Matthew.
