Iona Colvin will be addressing delegates at Impact: the 3rd Health and Social Care Integration Event on Monday 20th May.

The ALLIANCE are delighted to announce that Iona Colvin, Chief Social Work Adviser at the Scottish Government will speak at the next ALLIANCE Annual Conference.

Our 2019 conference will aim to represent the integration of health and social care in its approach, and this year will focus on the theme of ‘Impact’. Delegates will represent a broad cross sector of Scottish society with an interest in health and social care, including the third sector, health and social care providers and, most importantly, people who access support and services.

As the Chief Social Work Adviser, Iona advises ministers and policy teams with an interest in, or responsibility for, aspects of social work services and practice. She works with policy teams leading on major programmes including integration of health and social care, adult social care, implementation of self-directed support, Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and community justice reform.

Before taking up the role of Cheif Social Work Adviser, Iona spent more than 30 years working in local government. Iona’s previous posts include:

  • Director of Health and Social Care and IJB Chief Officer – North Ayrshire
  • Director of Social Work and CSWO – North Ayrshire
  • Director of Southwest Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership
  • Joint General Manager, Addiction Service – Glasgow

While Iona is a committed and compassionate social worker, she has a particular interest in developing integrated approaches to improve outcomes for children, young people and adults.

Iona will join fellow speaker Reece Harding, MSYP , Jeane Freeman MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport and Natalie Masterson, Chief Executive of Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise as speakers at this year’s event, as well as conference chair Pennie Taylor.
