759,000 Carers celebrated on Saturday night at concert with Hipsway and Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5
Over 1,550 carers came together on Saturday for a night of celebration at the ALLIANCE Concert for Caring with Scotland and Glasgow’s very own HIPSWAY joining forces with the mighty Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5 to produce fun packed night of music. The Concert for Caring was delivered in partnership with Regular Music at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
There was a reception before the concert (sponsored by Morrison Construction) for carers who came from all over Scotland. At the reception we were joined by Chief Nursing Officer in Scotland, Fiona McQueen, and former Chief Nursing Officer in England, Jane Cummings. They both talked about the great work our colleague Tommy Whitelaw has been doing around the country inspiring and educating students in health and social care and frontline staff about the importance of caring and the work of all carers.
Local MSP and Minster for Justice, Humza Yousaf, spoke about how carers should not be ‘unsung heroes’ and that it is the responsibility of Government to give voices to these people. He thanked Tommy and the ALLIANCE for their work in raising awareness of the work of unpaid carers in Scotland.
