Consultation on Resource for Supporting Disabled Children, Young People and their Families launched

Section: Policy into PracticeType: News Item Date Published: 6th June 2018

The Scottish Government are consulting on their draft resource to support disabled children, young people and their families.

The Scottish Government have worked with disabled children and young people, their families, practitioners and third sector partners to develop a public resource to that will look to provide information, based on the lived experiences of disabled children, young people, and their families across three pillars: rights and information, accessibility of support, and transitions.

The information in the consultation document will be developed into a website and mobile device app. Some people may prefer a paper based version rather than a website and app so the Scottish Government are working with stakeholders to look at how this can be done too.

The information gathered from the consultation will be crucial for us to provide a resource in a format that is both practical and useful.

All comments will be considered and will help to inform the final version of the resource, which will be published in late 2018 or early 2019.

Find further information, the draft consultation and a BSL video on the Scottish Government Consultation Hub (this link will take you away from our website). The consultation closes on 5th September.

The Getting to Know Getting it Right for Every Child team is also holding a consultation event on 12th June. Further information can be in the resources section of this page.
