Plantation Productions have published a short film about the power of peer support and creativity for mental wellbeing.
Creative Steps: A Journey to Wellbeing is a short film (this link will take you away from our website) made with a group of people who express how creativity can be the route to recovery. Having experienced social isolation on a global scale this film resonates now more than ever as we navigate our own way back into society.
This film was made with people living with enduring mental health illness who are now participants of the Creative Steps programme; and gives a brief and emotive insight into their shared creative approach back into the community.
Creative Steps to Wellbeing is a person-led 3 step programme, which uses creative participation as a way to engage people, to build trust and promote resilience. Developed in partnership with GP surgeries and mental health resource centres across Glasgow, it has proven to be an exemplar in taking a joined-up approach to successful and sustained recovery. This film shows the benefit of getting better together and the power of the shared creative experience.
The Creative Steps to Wellbeing programme is run by Plantation Productions (this link will take you away from our website), a creative media charity based in the Govan area of Glasgow. Established in 2001, Plantation Productions works with people aged 5 – 95 and uses creativity as a tool to engage, build confidence, aid recovery and to give voice to unheard communities, raising issues that affect their lives and the lives of others.
