Self Management Week 2019 will take place 7th - 11th October. Celebrate the benefits of self management and spread awareness of the week.
Self Management Week takes place every year to raise awareness of and showcase the huge benefits self management can bring to people’s lives.
Self management is about people living with long term conditions being in ‘the driving seat’. It supports people to live their lives better, on their terms. Self management is not a replacement for services, it does not mean managing alone. It is a journey with the person at the centre, feeling able to take control of their life and conditions in partnership with support and services.
The Self Management Team are taking the opportunity throughout Self Management Week 2019 to celebrate the experiences of those who have embraced self management in their lives and those supporting and championing self management approaches in what they do.
To make a truly valuable impact and get people talking about Self Management they want as many individuals, groups and organisations as possible to get involved and share what they are doing.
Events and activities will be taking place all across Scotland throughout the week, celebrating self management in practice, exploring self management topics and sharing stories of how self management can support people to live their lives on their terms.
A programme of events is now available and the team are keen for people, projects and health and social care professionals to get in contact and ensure their event or activity is added to the programme.
For more information, see the ‘Resources’ section below and download the ‘Get Involved’ pack. To notify the Self Management Team of any activities you are planning contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0141 404 0231.
