Glasgow Life has announced their dementia-friendly programme for February and March 2020.
The benefits of music are becoming increasingly recognised. Music can unlock memories, reduce stress and anxiety while also helping maintain speech and language, and Glasgow Music’s dementia-friendly concerts – which are presented in partnership with Live Music Now – have proved hugely popular since they were first piloted in 2017.
These community events are free (but ticketed) and held in the relaxed and comfortable surroundings of Glasgow’ Royal Concert Hall’s Strathclyde Suite.
They are being held for people living with dementia along with their families, friends and carers. Designed to be welcoming, entertaining but, crucially, accessible, the events are carefully organised in terms of lighting, signage and staffing to ensure that they are sensitive to the specific needs of people living with dementia.
Carer Voices is glad to be supporting this initiative and sharing it across ALLIANCE networks more widely.
Tickets can be ordered from Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Box Office, or online at glasgowconcerthalls.com or by telephone on 0141 353 8000.
