A consultation is underway on proposals to put the Scottish Government's Good Food Nation ambitions into practice.

In December 2018, the Scottish Government published a Consultation on Good Food Nation Proposals for Legislation (this link will take you away from our website), which outlines its continued commitment to improved access to local foods, a progressive and sustainable food industry and a reputation as a Good Food Nation.

As members of the Scottish Food Coalition (this link will take you away from our website), the ALLIANCE has been campaigning for a new food Bill to provide a new framework for Scotland’s food system. The Coalition believes that this could enable a connected approach to food policy, which facilitates a just transition to a fair, healthy and sustainable food system.

The consultation paper (this link will take you away from our website) asks for views on a range of issues – including whether a single piece of legislation is required to achieve these aims, or if targeted legislation in specific policy areas would be better.

The consultation closes on 29 March 2019.
