Health and Sport Committee scrutiny to continue

Section: Policy into PracticeType: News Item Date Published: 27th April 2020

The Scottish Parliament's Health and Sport Committee will continue its role during the COVID-19 pandemic, holding meetings virtually.

In an update to its workplan, the Committee has agreed to resume its weekly meeting schedule from 28 April 2020 until the Scottish Parliament’s summer recess. This will involve virtual meetings, and meetings held in private  except where oral evidence or legislation is being considered.

On its work programme the Committee agreed it would revise its approach to scrutiny of the Forensic Medical Services (Victims Of Sexual Offences) (Scotland) Bill and would look in more detail at the COVID-19 pandemic with imminent meetings on:

  • PPE provision
  • Testing
  • Security of care homes
  • Resiliency and emergency preparedness

The Committee notes that it will “seek views of stakeholders on each of the above”. You can find out more by contacting the Clerk of the Committee, David Cullum, at
