Healthcare Improvement Scotland seek people with lived experience of transvaginal mesh implants

Section: The ALLIANCEType: News Item Date Published: 27th June 2018

Do you have lived experience of transvaginal mesh implants? Healthcare Improvement Scotland would like to hear from you.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) currently leads the independent oversight group for the use of transvaginal mesh implants in Scotland. The role of the group is to:

  • Examine data on the use transvaginal mesh implants in NHSScotland
  • Examine the reporting of negative effects of care by NHS Boards
  • Consider how significant new evidence should inform best practice in managing conditions for which transvaginal mesh implants are offered
  • Ensure that the information available to people considering treatment is appropriate and up to date

To achieve this final point, the contributions of people with lived experience of transvaginal mesh implants will be crucial. HIS is therefore looking to form a sub-group including people with lived experience of transvaginal mesh implants to ensure that people considering treatment have appropriate and up-to-date information.

If you have lived experience of transvaginal mesh implants, whether positive or negative, and you are interested in shaping the information available on this treatment, then please contact Graeme Morrison on 0131 623 4606 or via email at Graeme.morrison1@nhs.net.
