Liz McKenzie, a Caseworker from HMP Perth shares how they have built a recovery culture in this podcast from the ALLIANCE Annual Conference.
As part of the Resilience Zone at Impact: The Third Health and Social Care Integration Event, the ‘Championing recovery in a prison environment’ workshop explored what recovery and self management can look like within the context of a prison environment.
Delegates had the opportunity to hear about exploratory work around recovery and self management that had been achieved with a prison recovery group in Perth Prison, in partnership with the ALLIANCE and SRN’s Write to Recovery Project (this link will take you away from our website). Coming through in the workshop discussions was that by adopting an innovative grass roots approach in the prison, the Substance Use Team within HMP Perth have created a culture of recovery which has grown for prisoners and prison staff alike.
In this short podcast, Liz McKenzie, Case worker for the Substance Use team within HMP Perth reflects on how they developed a recovery community within the prison and what has been achieved so far.
