Find out how to get involved in the Scottish Government's consultation on a new National Care Service for Scotland.
Amongst the 53 recommendations in the Independent Review of Adult Social Care (Feeley Review) was the creation of a National Care Service (NCS) on an equal footing to the existing National Health Service. The Scottish Government have now launched a consultation on a NCS (this link will take you away from our website).
Last year, the ALLIANCE conducted extensive member engagement, capturing a broad range of views to inform the Feeley Review. We have also carried out a nationwide research project on people’s experiences of Self-directed Support and social care in the My Support My Choice project. As a next step, the ALLIANCE will be submitting a formal response to the Scottish Government’s NCS consultation.
ALLIANCE members have shared with us countless personal and organisational experiences, learning, and opinions on key areas that the Scottish Government is consulting on. Through this, we have an invaluable and rich source of information that we will use in our response. However, if there is anything you haven’t already shared that you want us to consider as part of the ALLIANCE consultation response, please get in touch by emailing people@alliance-scotland.org.uk by 30 September 2021.
A future National Care Service – and the Scottish Government’s proposals for what this will include – could bring about significant change within Scotland’s health and social care sectors. The ALLIANCE recognises that our members have expert knowledge and experience to contribute. We are also inviting members to share their views with an Opinion. We will publish these on our website, across our social media channels, and in our bulletins. For more information and to get involved in writing an Opinion, please email kerry.ritchie@alliance-scotland.org.uk
As part of the NCS consultation, the Scottish Government are running a series of online engagement events (this link will take you away from our website) throughout August, September and October 2021. In recognition of the substantial contribution to the Independent Review made by our members, the ALLIANCE will also host an engagement event to allow the Scottish Government to directly hear from those who shaped and informed the its recommendations.
If you want to submit your own response to the Scottish Government consultation, you can find out more here (this link will take you away from our website.) Responses to the consultation must be submitted by 18 October 2021.
