They are delighted to announce the HRH The Duchess of Sussex as their Royal Patron. It is believed the Duchess’s decision to support Smart Works reflects her passion in supporting women, and her commitment will help women in need across the UK.
Emma Jewson, Manager, Smart Works Edinburgh states ‘Smart Works is honoured to announce that HRH The Duchess of Sussex is our Royal Patron. The decision reflects The Duchess’s passion in supporting women, and her commitment will help women in need across the UK. At Smart Works we are passionate about helping women be the best that they can be. As a global campaigner for women and their rights, The Duchess will shine a light on Smart Works, enabling more women to come to our centres and get the job that will transform their lives’
Smart Works prides itself on being able to offer women a service that gives them the confidence for interviews and continued support into successful employment. They offer unemployed women who have confirmed job interviews a two-hour dressing and coaching service with an experienced HR professional, to ensure the women look and feel confident and are well prepared for their interview.
If successful at interview, the individual is welcomed back for a second dressing to receive five additional pieces of clothing. This means that they can start their new role with a work ready wardrobe.
Smart Works was named Social Action Charity of the Year 2017 at the National Charity Awards, it is their mission to ensure any woman who needs their help should be able to come to a Smart Works centre.
Louise Coupland, Employability Development Officer says ‘after visiting the project recently in Edinburgh I can not recommend their service highly enough. From the moment you walk through the door the staff make your feel like you can succeed, and the quality of the clothes speak for themselves.’
