The Digital Health and Social Care Programme launch their SSSC Open Badge in Digital Human Rights Principles
In 2021, the ALLIANCE developed our Digital Human Rights Principles in partnership with Scottish Care (this link will take you away from our website) and VOX Scotland (this link will take you away from our website). They were coproduced and created as we wanted to avoid potential pitfalls of digital health and care, leading to a human-rights based approach and a more equitable, meaningful use of technology.
Since their creation, we have spent the last year championing a human rights-based approach to digital health and social care and engaged with citizens and stakeholders on key innovations across Scotland and have actively been bringing together organisations that were championing the principles in practice, delivering a keynote presentation to industry at the IT4Anxiety Hackathon, to highlighting the importance of a human rights-based approach to attendees of the VHS and DigiFest conferences
We are aware to make a real impact we need to ensure the digital human rights principles are upheld in industry, with human rights-based approaches rooted in the design, delivery and evaluation of digital services. We want to empower our members, colleagues, health, and social care staff to feel more informed and knowledgeable in this area.
We are delighted that in line with International Human rights Day 2022, we are able to launch our SSSC Digital Human Rights Principles Open Badge. We recognise the importance of rewarding social care staff for further learning and development and are delighted others are equally keen to advocate, share and deliver on our principles across care:
- People at the centre
- Digital where it is best suited
- Digital as an ongoing choice
- Digital inclusion, not just widening access
- Access and control of digital data
