Applications for the Self Management Fund are open until 09.00 AM on 27 January 2025.

Self management supports people to live better, on their terms.

Through Self Management for Life, Round 2, the ALLIANCE will distribute Scottish Government funds to third sector and community organisations working in Scotland, to support new activities that will encourage new approaches or add to our learning around self management.

Sara Redmond, Chief Officer of Development at the ALLIANCE said:

“We are delighted to open a second round of Self Management for Life, offering more projects the opportunity to support people to develop their resilience and wellbeing. Through Self Management for Life we are able to focus on supporting people at an early stage in their journey with a long term condition, along with those who have been impacted by health inequalities and those on long waiting lists to ensure they are empowered to manage their own wellbeing.

Giving third sector organisations the chance to run a pilot and test out emerging ideas, or the stability of a 3 year grant, is hugely valuable in a strained sector which does an incredible amount with limited resources.”

Two levels of grant will be available:

  • Small grants of up to £15,000 for up to one year
  • Large grants of up to £120,000 for up to three years.

In 2025 the Self Management Fund aims to support projects that put people and communities at the centre. Applications must demonstrate their project supports, guides and enables self management in one of the following ways:

  1. Supporting people at an early stage in their journey with a long term condition, disability or unpaid caring responsibility, to develop their ability to self manage.
  2. Reducing barriers to accessing health and social care support and services, to enable self management for people living with long term conditions, disabilities and/or unpaid carers.
  3. Developing the self management capacity of people living with long term conditions, and/or their unpaid carers, while they wait for a specialist health or social care intervention.
