Diabetes UK are recruiting healthcare professionals to volunteer at their Type 1 diabetes camp in Perth and Kinross for 11 to 15 year olds.

Diabetes UK is running their Type 1 summer camp in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, from 27 July 11:30 am to 31 July 4pm.

A Type 1 Summer Camp is a unique experience that gives 11 to 15-year-olds living with type 1 diabetes the time and space to gain confidence, share experiences, and realise they’re not alone. They rely on healthcare professional volunteers to run these life-changing events.

Volunteer with Diabetes UK and you’ll enhance your professional practice, gaining invaluable experience of being away from clinic in the field managing type 1. You’ll see how your advice has a life-long impact, ensuring everyone leaves feeling more confident about living with and managing type 1.

Crucially, the number of places for young people they will be able to offer depends entirely on how many healthcare professionals sign up to volunteer. For every one doctor or nurse and one dietitian who apply, six young people can attend.

For their 2024 Summer Camp, they are looking for:

  • PDSNs
  • DSNs
  • Registrars
  • Consultant
  • Dietitians

All travel costs from anywhere in the UK will be reimbursed by Diabetes UK.
