This week's staff introduction is Carmen Paputa-Dutu, Digital Health and Care Assistant.
In 140 characters, what is your role at the ALLIANCE?
I work in the Digital Health and Care team and I mainly provide admin and communications support to the rest of the team.
I just finished a degree in digital media and information studies, but I was also working on University environmental sustainability projects between 2013-2016 in a variety of roles (from events intern to project coordinator). I had some jobs on the side as well, such as doing marketing for an IT company, and then a freight company.
Biggest learning experience in current or previous role?
The importance of people and communication. In my previous role for the University, I got into comms because I realised how much I loved my team and that by doing that work I had an excuse to pester everyone to find out what they were working on and then find ways we could all work better together.
Twitter, Facebook or Instagram?
Instagram by far. I like documenting the randomness of everyday, as well as any pet I encounter. I otherwise use Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch with different friend circles, and I’m trying to get used to the idea of Twitter for work.
In my spare time I like to…
These days it’s simple stuff like playing with my pet rats and going to the occasional live music night. I also enjoy a good video game or movie. However, I am too distracted to have any long standing hobbies, so I would sometimes really get into something random, like origami, but it’s usually just a phase.
When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?
A painter, a vet and an inventor.
Trade places with someone for 1 day, who would it be?
Mattias Klum – he gets to travel the world and capture it in stunning photographs. I’m not sure I’d be able to see it in a day, but it’d sure be an amazing experience!
Planes, trains or automobiles?
Trains – my first travels by myself were by train so I still get that feeling of freedom every time I’m on a train. Plus, they’re more environmentally friendly than the other options.
