Ruth is next in our series of blogs introducing ALLIANCE staff.

In 140 characters, what is your role at the ALLIANCE?

HR Officer – I am responsible for the day-to-day HR issues and facilities within the ALLIANCE.

Previous experience

I have had many roles in the ALLIANCE over the last 5 years. I have been a volunteer, the Office Assistant, the Administrator and the Senior Administrator. During my time as the Senior Administrator I started to study towards a Masters in Human Resource Management which has taken me to where I am today.

Before all this I studied Zoology at University and learnt an awful lot about fox pheromones. While at uni I signed up to an Extras casting agency and appeared in many starring roles in Scottish TV shows such as Teen Mum 1 in Taggart and Radio Technician giving the thumbs up in River City.

Biggest learning experience in previous or current role?

The ALLIANCE allowing me to studying for my Masters and putting this new knowledge into use has definitely been my biggest learning experience.

Twitter, Facebook or Instagram?

Instagram – though mainly used to look at cute pictures of cats!

In my spare time I like…

To bake.  Although with juggling a full time job, a part time Masters degree and planning a wedding I don’t get to bake as often as I would like to.

When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was tiny I wanted to be a childminder but then I moved onto all things ballet and wanted to be a prima ballerina. By the time I was in high school I was dead set on being a vet but if I’m honest I’m still not sure what I want to be when I grow up!

Trade places with someone for 1 day, who would it be?

Not a person as such but one of my cats, Leo and Hugo. Sleeping all day and getting fed on request, what’s not to be jealous of?

Planes, trains or automobiles?

After inter-railing around Europe with friends I fell in love with long train journeys. Travelling through the Alps by train is quite spectacular.
