Xuechang Leng is the Carer Voices Artist-in-Residence in partnership with the Scottish Graduate School of Arts & Humanities (SGSAH)
Xuechang is focusing on helping to raise awareness of carers’ experiences by responding to the largest archive of carers’ perspectives in the UK – the ‘You Can Make a Difference’ campaign. The art he produces will raise awareness of the issues around caring including among health and social care professionals, students and the wider public. It will also highlight the role of carers as experts, who should be recognised for the value that they bring to the life of their loved ones and to society as a whole.
As an Artist-in-Residence currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh with previous teaching experience across universities in China, Xuechang brings extensive experience, and deep commitment to this piece of work.
Xuechang is engaging with people with lived experience across local communities, care homes, hospitals and local carer groups which will assist in informing the production of his artwork.
