ALISS has been created using the principles of open source software.
Open source software means that the code is freely available, and can be used and adapted by others, subject to Creative Commons guidelines. The ALISS code is available on GitHub.
The information held on ALISS is available via an API (Application Programming Interface). Meaning, as well as accessing information through www.aliss.org, the data can be used in other websites and systems, e.g. to create your own online directory of assets. Find out more information about the ALISS API.
Another method of presenting ALISS information is using our JavaScript plugin. This can be easily embedded on third party websites, without the need for much specialist technical knowledge.
