The ALLIANCE is a member of The European Patients’ Forum (EPF) (This link will take you away from our website) and Director Irene Oldfather is also an Executive of the Patient Empowerment sub group. EPF’s members represent specific chronic disease groups at EU level or are national coalitions of patients.
EPF helps to empower patients’ organisations through educational seminars, policy initiatives and projects. It coordinates best practice exchanges between patient organisations at European and national levels.

Vytenis Andriukaitis-EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, delivered a speech about the importance of prevention when it comes to addressing chronic diseases. He called for a more streamlined approach in order to reach the voluntary WHO and UN targets for chronic diseases.
In aid of this, the EU Commissioner announced the opening of a ‘Health Policy Platform.’ This Platform will provide a forum to exchange information on key health issues.
