{"id":1870,"date":"2024-02-01T11:48:43","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T11:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/health-and-social-care-integration\/?page_id=1870"},"modified":"2024-02-06T11:24:01","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T11:24:01","slug":"basic-income","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/health-and-social-care-integration\/health-and-social-care-academy\/recent-work\/basic-income\/","title":{"rendered":"Basic income"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Basic income in this context refers to a restructuring of the current social security system, whereby bureaucratic assessments for payments would be scrapped and payments would be flat, tax free, and paid to every adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Academy hosted a session on \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/blog\/news\/event-report-making-universal-basic-income-transformational-for-everyone\/\">Making Universal Basic Income transformational for everyone\u2019<\/a> at the Basic Income Earth Network Congress in Glasgow, which saw speakers share their thoughts on what would be necessary for a basic income to be transformational for everyone. This included noting the difficulties faced by disabled people, people living with long term conditions, and carers under current social security measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021 we published our refreshed basic income paper<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/blog\/resources\/emphasising-humanity-and-transforming-livelihoods-basic-income\/\"> Emphasising Humanity Transforming Livelihoods: Basic Income.<\/a> In the paper we consider some of the ways in which a Basic Income could be transformational, and how it could value people and work previously under-recognised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Academy have produced&nbsp;three short videos&nbsp;examining more progressive styles of budgeting, in particular <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jvj1YZ8Rbfw?feature=shared\">human rights budgeting<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZqRiGLBvCVE?feature=shared\">gender budgeting<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZpbylYAbzV0?feature=shared\">participatory budgeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>End of page. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Basic income in this context refers to a restructuring of the current social security system, whereby bureaucratic assessments for payments would be scrapped and payments would be flat, tax free, and paid to every adult.
