Integration Joint Board (IJB) lived experience representatives sit on IJBs to promote the voice of service users in their local area.

The Integration Joint Board (IJB) Lived Experience Network is a national network of individuals appointed to a role on an IJB to represent the perspectives and experiences of people who access support and services in their local area. This role is vital for ensuring that health and social care is influenced and shaped by people with lived experience, and this network provides these lived experience representatives (also called service user representatives) the opportunity to connect together, share learning and ideas that will support them in their role.

The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) support the organisation and facilitation of this network through our Integration Support team. However, the network is led by its members and is shaped by members’ needs, views and the lived experience they have gained from their roles as representatives on their respective IJBs.

Through our quarterly meetings we have gathered a number of insights and ideas that would support IJB lived experience representatives, highlighting both opportunities and challenges for network members, which the network and the ALLIANCE regularly shares with key stakeholders able to enact meaningful change for the network as whole.

If you are have the role of lived experience (or service user) representative on an IJB, and are not part of this network but would like to, please email rachel.cairns@alliance-scotland.org.uk for more information.
