We believe that people\u2019s voices, expertise, and rights should drive policy and the design, delivery and improvement of support and services. This includes financial, employment, and relationship issues, physical and mental health problems, criminal activity, and in the most severe cases suicide as a direct result of gambling harm.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People can experience gambling harm to different degrees, and we are interested in speaking to anyone who feels they have experienced harm as result of their own, or a loved one\u2019s gambling.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our work<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Forum helps to identify key areas of importance in reducing gambling harms in Scotland and provide their expertise to contribute to meaningful change. Forum members commit to attending regular, evening meetings every six weeks for one hour and a half. They have opportunities to shape action to reduce gambling harm in Scotland, as well as network and build relationships with others.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous activities include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>planning and attending events like roundtable discussions with invited experts&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>responding to consultations on gambling regulation by the Government&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members sharing their stories: see the&nbsp;\u2018Humans of Scotland \u2013 Gambling Harm\u2019 edition&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publishing reports on specific priorities such as the \u2018Mental Health and Gambling Harm\u2019 report &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ScotRGH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> X page @ScotRGH<\/a> is regularly updated with work the forum is involved in.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p id=\"block-ee005889-022f-4384-9a82-082f337c195f\"><em>\u201cPeople don\u2019t understand it. Mental health and addiction go hand in hand.&nbsp; It should be a public health issue. It should be about protecting our children and grandchildren. It should stop seeing the broken as people with \u2018illness\u2019 but recognise the cause of this misery as resting with the unregulated supply of addictive products.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>Person with experience of gambling harm<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lived experience work at the ALLIANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Forum aligns with an organisation-wide commitment to champion lived experience. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/lived-experience\/\">Discover the range of programmes<\/a> that involve and promote people with lived experience, or explore ALLIANCE&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/lived-experience\/knowledge-hub\/\">Knowledge Hub<\/a>, a library of resources and guides that can help organisations to work with people with lived experience meaningfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Getting involved <\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Forum is open to new members wishing to join.
