Established in 2016 in partnership with Dance Base<\/a>, Dance for Parkinson\u2019s Scotland is a national network of classes that support those living with Parkinson\u2019s to experience the benefits of dance and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme is inspired by Dance for PD\u00ae<\/a> created in 2001 by Olie Westhemier (Brooklyn Parkinson\u2019s Group) and David Leventhal (Mark Morris Dance Group). Dance for Parkinson\u2019s Scotland is proud to maintain a partnership with the Dance for PD\u00ae program to foster international best practice, research and professional exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do classes help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dance can help people living with Parkinson\u2019s physically, mentally and socially, aiding mobility and improving overall feelings of wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dance for Parkinson\u2019s Scotland classes improve balance, spatial awareness, confidence and fluidity of movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can I expect?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Classes last around 1 hour and 30 minutes and include a variety of seated and standing movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each class is led by a team of dance health specialists and volunteers and is accompanied by live music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are welcome to bring a friend, partner or carer to join in free of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with all Scottish Ballet Health programmes classes include a social time with refreshments. This social time, with others with lived experience of Parkinson\u2019s, builds friendships and a community of support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can I join in?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose between weekly in-person, monthly or on demand classes. Online classes are held on zoom. For this the dancers will need a computer or mobile device that can access the internet. You will be emailed the link before each session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day: Tuesdays<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time: 11:00am and 1:30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (not including the social caf\u00e9 in between classes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location: Scottish Ballet HQ in Glasgow. Tramway<\/a>. 25 Albert Drive. G41 2PE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cost: \u00a35 per class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
