It presents an opportunity to restore the UK\u2019s status as a global leader in human rights &#8211; not simply defending our existing framework but taking further action to progressively realise human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a moment where, learning from our experience of COVID-19, renewed investment in health, social care and reducing health inequalities can transform lives. It\u2019s time to move on from an economic model rooted narrowly in GDP growth, towards a wellbeing economy and a rights based approach to public finances that values investments like care and social security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of the 2024 UK general election, the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) and our members call for all political parties to make the following commitments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/policy-and-research\/campaigns\/2024-general-election-manifesto\/human-rights-2024-manifesto\/\">Human Rights<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Human rights are for everyone, and we all benefit from upholding and strengthening human rights protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uphold the Human Rights Act and European Convention on Human Rights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen the existing human rights framework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deliver a fair immigration system that supports recruitment and upholds the human rights of refugees and asylum seekers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/policy-and-research\/campaigns\/2024-general-election-manifesto\/health-care-and-wellbeing-2024-manifesto\/\">Health, Care and Wellbeing<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health and wellbeing in every part of the UK depends on the UK Government investing in care, whilst acting on wider public health and tackling inequalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Invest in health and social care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce health inequalities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address gambling harms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alliance-scotland.org.uk\/policy-and-research\/campaigns\/2024-general-election-manifesto\/financial-fairness-2024-manifesto\/\">Financial Fairness<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fairness must be at the heart of public finances and the economy, with investment in the services people rely on, recognition for the value of care, and a human rights based approach to social security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reimagine investment and the economy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure social security and work deliver dignity for disabled people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repair the broken social security system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deliver a fair, renewable deal on energy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can read our more detailed asks on the dedicated page for each chapter, or by downloading the full ALLIANCE 2024 General Election manifesto via the links below, including in Easy Read format.
