Libraries Supporting Self Management
Since October 2017, the Self Management Team have been working to increase support for self management through public libraries in Scotland
Project One:
The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland in partnership with NHS Scotland and Scottish public library services have been working together on a SLIC (this link will take you away from our website) Public Library Improvement Fund project. Together we have developed a training resource for public library staff to increase their knowledge about self management of long term conditions and health literacy enabling them to feel confident offering support and information to people about their health and wellbeing.
Training took place across Scotland in 2018. This page has various different downloads to enable public library staff to access the training materials to use in their own capacity. Please note the ‘Slide’ document has short facilitator notes included.
Project Two:
Through success of our first project, towards the end of 2018 we were awarded funding from SLIC and the Scottish Government Digital Health and Care Team for a new two year project which will see it jointly delivered with NHS Health Scotland. Find out more about the project here.
