Cheviot Youth
- Project Status: On-going
Cheviot Youth were awarded £75,411 in July 2024 to run their project for 36 months
Operating across Tweedback, Kelso, Jedburgh and Hawick the 3-year project will support young people (11-25) who have been recently diagnosed with, or suspected to have, ADD or ASD to understand and manage their conditions through one-to-one and groupwork therapy. By targeting support at this stage of a person’s journey, the project aims to reduce the prevalence of mental health/wellbeing issues commonly associated with diagnosis. The project hopes to generate learning around the challenges rurality might create in delivering such a targeted project, whether there’s any difference in engagement, feedback or impact of the 1:1 work vs the group work, the degree to which the support actually impacts self management and whether any conclusions can be drawn around the impact on other mental wellbeing issues. As not all young people will have a diagnosis, it is hoped that the project will also generate learning around the process of identifying/assessing beneficiaries who have yet to receive a clinical diagnosis.
