Fire safety and Emergency Evacuation

We have designated Fire Wardens to support in the event of a fire or other emergency evacuation and we are equipped with an evac chair.  The meeting point is outside the Scout shop on Elmbank Street.

There are two designated fire exits from the building:

  • The ALLIANCE office main door
  • Double fire exit doors located on the right hand side of the open plan office.

When the emergency evacuation alarm is activated it will sound and the light will flash so that it may be heard and/or seen.  All occupants should proceed to leave the premises as quickly as possible via the protected routes.  You should not prolong your exit by detouring to collect belongings and you should not attempt to tackle the fire.

The meeting point is outside the Scout shop on Elmbank Street.  You should meet there and wait for the Fire Wardens.  You must not re-enter the building until told to do so by a Fire Warden or the Fire Brigade.

If you discover a fire, please raise the alarm and then leave by your nearest exit.  The fire alarm call points are located beside the main entrance doors to the ALLIANCE and beside the emergency exit in the open plan office area.  The fire alarm is tested every Monday at 11.30 am.

The ALLIANCE premises have sufficient fire safety signage such as “in the event of a fire” (detailing the meeting point) and green, directional wayfinding signage which should be followed to indicate the nearest escape route from the building.

Fire exit doors are identified by emergency lighting signage which will operate in the event of a power failure to ensure occupants are able to evacuate the premises.

Fire extinguishers (water, CO2 and foam) are provided in common areas within the premises.  There is a fire blanket in the kitchen area.

Visitors who require assistance to evacuate the premises in an emergency should make themselves known to Corporate Services on arrival.  In advance of your visit, arrangements can be made on an individual basis via Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP).

Other Information

The ALLIANCE office has a First Aid Kit (located in the kitchen area) and a Defibrillator (located beside the sofa in the open plan office) on site.
