Better Lives Partnership were awarded £60,000.01 in June 2025 to run their project for 36 months
A 36 month project support young people with additional support needs (primarily autism and learning disabilities) in various locations in Dumfries and Galloway, to engage in a range of weekly sporting activities, while also working to support young people to access and use established facilities in the region.
Learning will be gained from a deeper understanding of the barriers that exist for young people with additional support needs seeking to access these activities in D&G. The degree to which these barriers can be mitigated, and from the experience of working alongside established venues to highlight and address barriers. The degree to which activity has an impact on wellbeing and self management, and whether young people continue to access sports and exercise activities outside of supported sessions.
